Xstrata Nickel

Overview

Xstrata Nickel's mining operations include five mines and processing facilities in Ontario and Québec, Canada; a ferronickel mine and processing facility in Bonao, Dominican Republic; and a refinery in Nikkelverk, Norway. Xstrata Nickel also has a highly promising portfolio of growth projects, including Nickel Rim South in Canada, Kabanga in Tanzania, and Koniambo in New Caledonia.

The world's fourth largest nickel producer, Xstrata Nickel manages an annual production of more than 110,000 tonnes of refined nickel from its fully-integrated operations. Xstrata Nickel is also one of the world's largest recyclers and processors of nickel and cobalt-bearing materials. Our operations include mines and processing facilities in Canada, Norway and the Dominican Republic.

Raglan mine - Nunavik territory, Québec, Canada Sudbury mines, mill and smelter - Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Montcalm mine - Timmins, Ontario, Canada Nikkelverk refinery - Kristiansand, Norway Falcondo mine and processing plant - Bonao, Dominican Republic.

Xstrata Nickel markets and sells nickel, ferronickel, cobalt and other products that are refined at our Norway and Dominican Republic operations. Primary end uses are consumer and household products, automotive, medical equipment, power generation, aerospace, telecommunication and transportation equipment.
