Mick Davis, aged 50, is the Chief Executive of Xstrata. Mr Davis was appointed as Chief Executive of Xstrata in October 2001, and was appointed to the Board of Xstrata in February 2002. Previously, Mr Davis was Chief Financial Officer and an executive director of Billiton Plc, appointed in July 1997, and served as Executive Chairman of Ingwe Coal Corporation Limited from 1995. He joined Gencor Limited in early 1994 from Eskom, the South African state-owned electricity utility, where he was an executive director. |

Peter Freyberg, 48, became Chief Executive of Xstrata Coal on 1 January 2008. Mr Freyberg began his career as a trainee official with Anglo American Corporation in South Africa in 1978 and completing his B.Sc. Mining Engineering degree in 1983, Peter gained his experience working in both underground and open-pit coal operations in a variety of roles, including operations management and technical support. After leaving Anglo American in 1991, Peter embarked on an international career, including working with Kaltim Prima Coal in Indonesia; Hamersley Iron in Perth, Copelmi Mineração in Brazil; and Carbones del Cerrejón in Colombia. He joined Glencore following the acquisition of the Duiker assets in South Africa and was subsequently appointed Chief Operating Officer for Xstrata Coal South Africa after Xstrata’s purchase of the Glencore assets in 2002. Peter became the Director of Operations for Xstrata Coal in April 2006 and is based in Sydney. |

Benny Levene, aged 43, is the Chief Legal Counsel of Xstrata. Mr Levene joined Xstrata in 1997. Prior to that he was a partner at Werksmans Attorneys in South Africa specialising in mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt capital raising. |

Thras Moraitis, aged 45, is Executive General Manager Group Strategy and Corporate Affairs. Mr Moraitis joined Xstrata in 2003 and is responsible for the Group’s strategic development, post-acquisition integration, external affairs and investor relations as well as the Group’s technology businesses. Mr Moraitis began his career as an engineer on the Winkelhaak Gold Mine, Gencor. He then became a Global Partner in the strategy and merchant banking firm, Monitor, where he was responsible for their EMEA operations, advising governments and corporations around the world and was involved in Monitor’s private equity and venture capital activities. |

Peet Nienaber, aged 57, is Chief Executive of the Ferroalloys Business. Mr. Nienaber holds both a Bachelor and Honours degree in Engineering. Mr. Nienaber started his career as an Iscor bursary holder at Iscor Steelworks in Newcastle and worked for 14 years in the ferroalloy industry at both Samancor and CMI until in 1988 he became one of the founder members of what is now the Xstrata Group's chrome operations. In 1997, Mr. Nienaber was appointed Chief Executive of Xstrata's South African ferroalloy’s operations. |

Ian Pearce, aged 50, was appointed Chief Executive of Xstrata Nickel following the acquisition of Falconbridge in August 2006. Mr Pearce has worked for more than 27 years in the metallurgy and mining field. Mr Pearce joined Falconbridge in 2003 and spearheaded the advancement of major growth initiatives at Falconbridge as Senior Vice-President of Projects, before being appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2006. Prior to joining Falconbridge, Mr Pearce worked on Canadian oil sands projects as well as metallurgical and mining projects for Fluor in Canada, Indonesia, Chile and South Africa. Mr Pearce holds an engineering HND in mineral processing and a BSc from the University of Witwatersrand. He has also received strategic and general management training at Henley College in the United Kingdom. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Mining Association of Canada and on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Nickel Institute. |

Trevor Reid, aged 47, is the Chief Financial Officer of Xstrata. Mr Reid joined Xstrata in January 2002, and was appointed to the Board of Xstrata in February 2002. Prior to joining Xstrata, he was Global Head of Resource Banking at the Standard Bank Group. He joined the Standard Bank Group in 1997 from Warrior International Limited, a corporate finance boutique specialising in the minerals sector. |

Charlie Sartain, aged 46, Chief Executive, Xstrata Copper. Mr Sartain was appointed as chief executive of Xstrata Copper in January 2004 following the formation of Xstrata's global copper business unit. Mr Sartain started his career with MIM Holdings. He worked with MIM for more than 20 years, spending the early part of his career in a number of mining engineering and management roles at the Mount Isa Mines complex. He worked as the General Manager of the Ravenswood Gold operations and then the Ernest Henry Mine in north Queensland during the 1990s before being appointed General Manager of Minera Alumbrera Ltd in mid-2000 to lead the transformation of that company's copper/gold operations in Argentina. In July 2003 Mr Sartain was appointed Chief Executive Copper Americas for Xstrata, following the acquisition by Xstrata of MIM in June of that year, prior to his appointment into his current role. He is a member of the Xstrata plc Executive Committee.Mr Sartain is a Director of the Council on Australian Latin America Relations, a Director of the International Copper Association, the leading organisation for promoting the use of copper worldwide, and a Director of the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland. |

Santiago Zaldumbide, aged 65, is an executive director of Xstrata, Chief Executive of Xstrata Zinc and Executive Chairman of Asturiana de Zinc. Mr Zaldumbide was appointed to the Board of Xstrata in February 2002. He is a previous Chief Executive Officer and director of Union Explosivos Rio Tinto and of Petroleos del Norte. In 1990, Petroleos del Norte became part of the Repsol Oil Group where Mr Zaldumbide was responsible for establishing the international structure of the enlarged Repsol Oil Group. In 1994 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Corporación Industrial de Banesto and, in December 1997, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Asturiana de Zinc. Mr Zaldumbide is also a member of the European Advisory Council of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. and a director of ThyssenKrupp SA. |
