Xstrata Copper announces the publication of its 2009 Sustainability Reports that describe the Sustainable Development performance of each of its divisions and major greenfield development projects.
Xstrata Copper Chief Executive Charlie Sartain commented:
“The publication of annual Sustainability Reports is an important part of our Sustainable Development Strategy and Management Framework. Our objective is to report our sustainable development performance in a clear and transparent manner providing measurable indicators of our performance against published targets and outlining our new targets for the coming year.
“This year Xstrata Copper is publishing a total of 11 Sustainability Reports comprising the Canada, Southern Peru, North Chile, Minera Alumbrera and North Queensland divisional reports, the El Pachón, El Morro, Energía Austral, Tampakan and Frieda River project reports and the joint copper-zinc Mount Isa Mines operation report.
“We firmly believe that the publication of divisional and project Sustainability Reports is a vital tool to communicate with our key local and regional stakeholders, while also ensuring we remain focused on achieving the highest standards of sustainable development.
