Xstrata plc announces the resignation of Dr Frederik Roux as a director of the Company with immediate effect. Dr Roux was a non-executive director and was appointed to the Board in February 2002.
Dr Roux’s resignation reflects his position as Chairman of Impala Platinum Holdings Limited and consequent potential conflict of interest in the light of Xstrata’s offer for Eland Platinum announced today.
Willy Strothotte, Xstrata Chairman, commented: “On behalf of my fellow Board members and Xstrata’s executive management, I would like to extend our grateful thanks to Fred Roux for the important contribution he has made to Xstrata over the past many years. He will be missed by his colleagues and I wish him well for the future. “
