Description of Operation

General Smelting of Canada processes scrap lead and zinc materials along with refined metal to produce various products.  The facility also offers a skilled pool of registered lead burners for construction and maintenance of acid plant electrolytic precipitators and other equipment.  Markets include all of North America, especially the Eastern US and Canada.

Brief History of the Operation

The Lachine facility was opened in 1956.  It was originally part of a recycling/foundry Joint Venture with a US company, then acquired by Noranda Inc in 1995.
