Description of Operation

Located 140 kilometres north-north west of Mt Isa in the Australian state of Queensland, Australia, The Lady Loretta Mine Project is a joint venture between Xstrata 75% and Mineral Securities Limited 25%. The Lady Loretta project is held under a Mining Lease (ML5568), which covers an area of 3,264 hectares.

Brief History of the Operation

The Mining Licence was originally granted on 26 January 1984 for an initial term of 21 years and was renewed on 1 February 2005 for a further 21 years, which expires on 31 January 2026. Xstrata and Mineral Securities Limited also hold, in the same proportions, a Term Lease, which was granted on 30 August 2004 (replacing an earlier Special Lease) and expires on 29 August 2025 which covers an area of 22,000 hectares, including most of the surface area of ML5568.
