Who we are

Xstrata Technology Services (XTS) develops, markets and implements proprietary technologies and specialist services used in mining, mineral processing and metals production. Originally developed to make our own operations more efficient and competitive, we now market our technology solutions to other companies to help improve their efficiency and environmental performance too.
Our proprietary technologies include:

• ISAKIDD™ copper electro refining and winning technology, including the ISA PROCESS™ and Kidd Process
• ISASMELT™ and ISACONVERT™ smelting processes

What we do

XTS comprises two businesses, Xstrata Technology (XT) which specialises in the processing, smelting and refining of metals and Xstrata Process Support (XPS) which specialises in extractive metallurgy, process mineralogy and materials technology.

XT works with all elements of minerals processing, smelting and refining including: equipment design; detailed engineering; equipment supply; operator training; commissioning assistance; and ongoing process and maintenance support. Clients worldwide receive the latest technology originally developed for use in our own operations.

Our XPS metallurgical consulting practice provides specialist advice on mineral processing, mineralogy and smelting flowsheet testwork and development. We provide best practice process control and materials engineering support to international clients. Our teams can also develop and demonstrate new metallurgical processes on small or bulk samples using its state-of-the-art laboratories and mini pilot plants.
