Fines and prosecutions
Two fines were imposed during 2010 for safety incidents:
- In February 2010, Horne smelter (Canada) was fined CAD400 ($388) after a truck carrying copper anode was found to be over the load limit for the vehicle
- In July 2010, Xstrata Copper (Australia) was fined AUD33,763 ($31,089) by the Department of Workplace Health and Safety for a safety incident that occurred at Lake Julius in 2008.
