Xstrata's 17 Sustainable Development Standards, along with our Business Principles and Sustainable Development Policy form our Sustainable Development Framework. During 2007, we undertook a wide-ranging and in-depth external and internal review of Xstrata’s sustainable development governance framework. The review was initiated in response to the significantly changed risk profile of the Xstrata’s operations, the continued evolution of the scope and profile of sustainability issues and extensive feedback from internal and external stakeholders since the framework was initiated in 2004. The revised Sustainable Development Framework was approved by Xstrata’s Executive Committee and Board at the end of 2007. Compliance to this Framework assures performance to international sustainability standards, beyond regulatory compliance.
